INNOVATIVE CONTRIBUTIONS TO KNOWLEDGE & SOCIETY

  • Designed and developed the Freeware FISHER®, a 2D computer game for DOS computer systems. It extended the concept of projectiles simulation in Microsoft game QBASIC Gorillas. (1997)
  • Executed sensitive projects under NDA for the Nigerian military (1997 - 2003)
  • The first to conceptualize generalized solutions to the Pursuit Problem, this has extensive application in games design, missile development and deployment, etc. The new technique proposed in this work involves the specification of an arbitrary escape function having real zeros, in solving the differential equations in time, along the spatial dimensions. Subjecting ensuing system to speed constraints ensures practicability of analytic solution. (2001)
  • First to encapsulate a mobile robot as an elliptical object in the direction of motion rather than circular to conserve some space and reduce likelihood of collision with obstacles. (2001)
  • First to design and develop a word processor and translator for Nigerian languages (Lingua software). Hitherto, it was extremely difficult to produce documents in local languages on the computer. (2001)
  • Based on request from Business Center owners, designed and developed PrintWatch®, an application to monitor, log and report the print jobs on a printer. (2001)
  • Introduced a way for estimating initial approximations to a system of simultaneous nonlinear equations and how to solve such system using a decoupled single variable equation and multivariable Newton Raphson (mNR) in other variables. (2002)
  • Developed GAMPS: Amortization Calculator and Plotter as demonstration tool for IIE dept, USA. (2004)
  • Part of team that developed the neuro-fuzzy expert system for crime investigation, a project of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Innovation Center. The app utilized cross-referencing witness accounts, crime scene data and investigators’ experiential reasoning to narrow down suspect identification. (2005)
  • Led the duo that produced the first Shareware multimedia game-engine (Paradigm3DVR library) in Africa, with capabilities for graphics, music, voice, multi-level floor/map virtual tour, shooting and collision detection. (2005)
  • Predicted the ubiquitous deployment and usage of apps on mobile devices for both routine tasks and specialized computing. (2006)
  • First to develop educational multimedia software with virtual tour capability for all countries (2006). The Lainos World software supports multiple languages (English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese - 2011)
  • First to design and implement a scholarship cum recruitment website (Andrews Challenge) where only appropriate candidates are auto-matched to an exam based on pre-specified criteria and results may be ranked on various modes. Also predicted the migration of the examinations of JAMB, WAEC and NECO to e-exams. (2012)
  • Part of the team that designed and developed an improved traffic light control system using hybrid lighting system. The optimized street traffic lighting systems are suitable for changing weather conditions. It primes visibility and safety of drivers by using appropriate materials and intelligent control techniques. (2017)
  • Contributor: African Union High Level Panel Report on Artificial Intelligence by AUDA-NEPAD AI Expert Group, 2019 to date
  • Conceived the idea that laughter is a biometric for person identification and gender recognition. Led the team that established this scientifically, we developed the framework for deploying the technology. Laughter which hitherto was considered as noise in speech processing has become a viable tool for forensics in acoustics analyses. (2020)
  • Led the team that introduced the U-Index, a metric for indicating researcher’s contributions to academic knowledge. U-Index is an intrinsically normalized metric suitable for inter and cross-disciplinary research evaluation. It factors in authorship role and actual citations compared to expected citations over time. Also developed the free U-Index Calculator software for seamless evaluation. (2022)
